hi, up for auction today is an awesome pair of vintage 1993 apple design powered speakers... CONDITION- these are in like new condition, i bought them from someone who got them new, and never used them, she opened the box in 1993 and decided that she needed the desk space more! 15 years later i bought them and plugged them in to test them, and they worked without a problem, there is not a spot of dirt anywhere on these, there also is NO fading at all, they have been in a box for 15 years, so they are still apple classic white!! in the pics it looks like there is something on the right speaker grill, i can only see it in the pics, I'm not sure what it is, as far as i can tell its only something on my camera, because i cant see anything on the speakers, they really look brand new... because they basically are!! SOUND - these things sound awesome, i know they are old, so i didn't turn them up to loud because i was afraid of hurting them, but at only half volume (as far as bass) they completely blew away my bose companion 2's and as far as clarity, they are great, not quite bose crisp, but still way better (in my opinion) than any 2.0 speaker system made by sony, creative, logitec, altec or anyone else, and believe me, i have tried them all! these where made with high end parts, and are very well built! also, they have a sub woofer out option, i believe (from what i could find on the apple website) it is a powered sub out or something, so you don't need a powered sub, but I'm not sure on that, you probably wont want one anyway, they have great bass! they don't make speakers like this anymore... well, they do, but it will cost a lot more than these do!!! i know the video is pretty bad, any distortion you can hear is my camera and not the speakers, they also look a lot whiter in person, my camera is a little old lol! they were not even up half way, they sound great, awesome mids! so, if you want to own a piece of apple history that is still very usable, or maybe you want to add a bit of that "classic mac" look to your new aluminium imac, or maybe you are just a collector, these are the speakers to buy, i have been looking for other pairs of these on ebay for the past few months and the only ones i saw where used and dirty and had no box, these are basically unused, and still work perfectly, and are very clean!
